What is Reiki?
Reiki is a type of bio-field therapy also known as Energy Healing. Reiki works on the energy fields in and around the body to promote health and wellbeing. It works on a vibrational level using gentle touch to re-balance our bio-field on a deep level.
Reiki is a great complementary therapy and is currently being offered in many hospitals in Australia. Reiki works in conjunction with all other medical and therapeutic techniques to support the relief of side effects, reduce pain and promote wellness.
How does Reiki work?
Our bodies are hard wired for healing and its often subconscious negative beliefs and conditioning which can delay or block this process, causing a disconnect between the mind and body. Reiki helps to strengthen the mind-body connection, thereby strengthening the body’s ability to heal naturally.
To understand how Reiki works, think of a parent’s natural instinct to place their hands on their child after an injury, or when we hear sad or shocking news, instinctively we place our hands on our heart as a way to sooth our trauma. It’s a way of bringing in the energy of unconditional love and compassion for the purpose of healing. Through study and practice a Reiki practitioner learns to focus this energy and becomes proficient in this skill.
We all have this ability, we have just forgotten how because we are taught us to look outside ourselves for comfort, soothing and healing. In a way we give away our power. Reiki seeks to teach us how to reconnect with this innate ability.

Some people ask “What if I’m sceptical, will it still work?” I recall asking this very question. I was sceptical when I first tried Reiki, but then I walked out of that first session floating on air, I felt so good I knew something had happened. A curious mind and open heart is all you need! My hope is Reiki will benefit you as much as it did for me!
What can I expect during a Reiki session?
Reiki session are done on a treatment bed or chair, fully clothed. Session begins with discussing your goals and intention for the session. Reiki energy is then offered through light hand touch or hands hovering a few inches from the body and placed over chakra points along the body.
At the beginning of a session you may experience a lot of mind chatter, this is very common, but as the session progresses you can expect to feel a deep state of relaxation and peace. As you become more relaxed you may fall asleep, the benefits will be just the same as being awake. Deep states of relaxation can induce Alpha or Theta brainwave states, which are optimal for healing.
Physically you may feel a wave of calm energy or gentle heat. You may feel a light tingling sensations, slight twitching or rumbling tummy or nothing at all. Depending on how energetically sensitive you are, some clients have told me they see colours which can be a result of aligning and balancing your Chakras during the session. Most people describe their session as feeling deep relaxation, similar to getting a relaxing massage.
If you have any questions or concerns during the session you may speak at any time. After the session you may want to talk about your experience and I may have some intuitive insights to share with you.
As a Reiki Master practitioner I’ve had many years of training and experience, my goal is to provide a safe and supportive space to assist you with health and your overall well-being.
How many treatment will I need?
Every individual is different, so it’s difficult to predict how many sessions may be required. If your wanting an energy boost, depending on your energy levels, one or two session maybe sufficient, then sessions can be booked as needed.
For conditions such as stress, tension, sleeplessness, 4 sessions over a period of 8 weeks is recommended. For pain and long term chronic issues regular sessions over a period of time maybe required. You know your body best.
Reiki energy has a cumulative effect and builds up in the system, just like having a massage, regular sessions is where you will truly see and feel the benefits.

Reiki is a wonderful complementary therapy to use in conjunction with all types conventional medical treatments and therapeutic techniques and is currently being used in hospitals around the world.
